Osimhen Becomes 7th Most Valuable Serie A Player

In the latest transfer market valuation of Italian Serie A players, Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen’s value has now risen to €65million.

The Napoli striker had an impressive season with the Partenopei after finding the back of the net 18 times in 32 outings.

The former Lille attacker suffered an injury setback last November during a Serie A game against rivals Inter Milan which made the 23-year-old miss football action for almost eight weeks.

Despite that, the striker scored 14 league goals and helped the Naples side book a place in next season’s Champions League.

The remaining four goals came in the five matches he featured for the side in the Europa League before his injury.

Osimhen was voted the “Best U-23 Player” in Serie A for the 2021/22 season. He won the award after beating the likes of Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca and Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus to it.

The former Golden Eaglets hitman is presently in the Super Eagles camp for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone on Thursday.

He has now been rated the 7th most valuable player in the Serie A behind Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (Lazio), Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus), Matthijs De Ligt (Juventus), Rafael Leao (AC Milan), Lautaro Martinez (Inter) and Nicolo Barella (Inter).

Following Osimhen’s performance in the just concluded 2021/22 season, the striker’s value increased by €5million, as he was only worth €60 million as at December 2021.

Interestingly, his current market value is the highest in his football career so far with his lowest standing at €1million when he was at Wolfsburg in 2017.

However, his valuation by transfer market contradicts the latest compilation done by CIES Football Observatory Weekly Post released on Monday where the body valued Osimhen at €51.0 million, rated him as the 97th most valuable player in the world and third in Africa behind PSG’s Achraf Hakimi and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
