Premier League: West Ham Hold City At London Stadium

Manchester City recovered from a two-goal deficit to grab a very crucial point against West Ham United at London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

With this draw, Pep Guardiola’s side just need to win their final game of season to be crowned Premier League champions.

The away side’s hold on the league title was looking seriously in doubt at halftime as West Ham were 2-0 up via Jarrod Bowen’s double.

The Citizens were rescued through Jack Grealish and a Vladmir Coufal own goal.

Bowen took his goals very well, underlining one of the reasons he is among the eight players nominated for the player of the season.

Grealish meanwhile brought City back into the game four minutes into the second half before Coufal headed Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez’s free-kick past his own goalkeeper to level the scores.

This is the first time City avoided defeat after coming back from two goals down in a top-flight encounter for the first time since 2012.

Guardiola’s side even had an opportunity to seal a win late in the game but Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski saved Mahrez’s penalty after Craig Dawson had fouled Gabriel Jesus in the box.

West Ham had already secured a European football spot via their league position in successive seasons and that is the first time it is happening in the entire history of the club.

Manchester City must have been unimpressed by the outcome, especially at halftime but at least they know they are still in the driving seat even if Liverpool win their last two games. All City need now is a win in their last league game to confirm another topflight glory.
