Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah and Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne have emerged as the favourites to win the Premier League Player of the Season award.
A shortlist for the 2021/22 EA Sports Premier League Player of the Season was released on Friday with eight players included.
Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold makes the shortlist as well as Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka.
Other players nominated are versatile City defender Joao Cancelo, impressive West Ham player Jarrod Bowen, Southampton skipper James Ward-Prowse and Tottenham playmaker Son Heung-min.
Last year’s winner Ruben Dias did not make the shortlist however De Bruyne and Salah could win their second awards following wins in 2019/20 and 2017/18 respectively.
Salah has already been awarded the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Player of the Year earlier this season.
The winner of the Premier League Player of the Season will be decided by the combination of votes of the 20 club captains alongside a fan poll and a panel of ‘football experts’.
