Inter Milan beat Juventus 4-2 in extra time to claim this season’s Coppa Italia title.

It was the first time in 11 years that Inter have won the trophy as they came from behind to beat the Old Lady.

Meanwhile, Juventus themselves have now gone an entire season without winning a single trophy for the first time since the 2010/2011 season (that’s also 11 years ago).

Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella sent in a fantastic strike, which was the fastest Coppa Italia final goal in seven years, to put Inter ahead six minutes into the encounter but Juventus replied with two quick goals.

Alex Sandro equalised five minutes after the halftime break before Dusan Vlahovic put Juve in the lead two minutes later.

Simone Inzaghi’s side were awarded a penalty in the 80th minute which Turkish player Hakan Çalhanoglu sent into the top left corner, forcing extra time.

Inter got another penalty in the 99th minute. Energetic midfielder Ivan Perisic converted to send the Inter Milan fans into ruptures. Three minutes later, the Croatian made it four with a sublime effort from outside the box.

Inter will now turn their attention to the Serie A as they will slug it out with both Cagliari and Sampdoria in their last two league matches with the aim of winning a domestic double.
