Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have qualified for the semi-final of the ongoing 2022 WAFU Zone B tournament in Ghana.

Ladan Bosso’s side played out a 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso in their second Group B game on Wednesday to ensure qualification for the next round.

In Wednesday’s match, which was played inside Stade Seyni Kountche, Niamey, the Nigeria boys drew the first blood in the 24th minute through Ibrahim Muhammad whose attempted cross from the right found its way into the top corner.

Burkina Faso rallied back into the match with an equaliser but the Flying Eagles took the lead for the second time in the game via Ibrahim Yahaya’s penalty on 69 minutes.

Burkina Faso equalised again to make it 2-2 and ensure both teams shared the spoils.

The Flying Eagles are currently on four points after two matches while Burkina Faso and Ghana will have to battle for the group’s second semifinal slot.

Nigeria will finish as Group B winners if Burkina Faso do not defeat Ghana by more than two goals.

It would be recalled that the Flying Eagles had beaten the Black Starlets of Ghana 2-0 in their group opener on Sunday.

The two teams that qualify for the final of the WAFU Zone B tournament, will automatically secure the two available slots for the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Flying Eagles crashed out in the group stage of the 2020 WAFU Zone B held in Benin Republic which was won by Ghana.
