Erling Haaland, the Bundesliga’s standout striker, has allegedly told Borussia Dortmund that he would quit the club at the conclusion of the season to join English Premier League (EPL) champions Manchester City.

Late Monday, it was reported that Manchester City manager Ferran Soriano had spoken with Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

He notified him that a 75-million-euro (78.9-million-dollar) release clause in Haaland’s contract would be activated.

On Monday, Haaland was also said to have finished medical testing at the Erasmus hospital in Brussels.

Borussia Dortmund said the player was allowed to have the day off to “take care of personal matters.”

According to the story, the employees at the Erasmus hospital were taken aback by the sudden appearance of one of the world’s most sought football players.

Haaland, on the other hand, is said to have opted to travel to Brussels so that the tests might take place without incident.

Sebastian Kehl, the head of professional football at Borussia Dortmund, stated on Sunday that a deal may be completed this week.

Borussia Dortmund has already lined up a successor for Norway’s Haaland.

Kehl is optimistic that a deal for Germany international Karim Adeyemi, who is now at Red Bull Salzburg, would be finalized shortly.

Haaland moved to Borussia Dortmund from Salzburg in early 2020 for a fee of 20 million euros.
