Ligue 1: Champions PSG throw away another two-goal lead against Troyes

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) threw away a two-goal lead for the second time in a row as Troyes fought back to clinch a 2-2 draw on Sunday.

The hosts appeared to be in command at the Parc des Princes as Marquinhos and Neymar handed them a comfortable first-half lead.

However, a succession of defensive mistakes allowed the visitors to battle back in an intriguing game.

PSG was on the wrong end of another turnaround after surrendering a 3-1 lead in last week’s 3-3 draw with Strasbourg.

Ike Ugbo and Florian Tardieu scored on either side of the interval at this point.

Neymar also had two goals disallowed as PSG struggled to another disappointing loss, adding to the pressure on head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

When Marquinhos converted Angel Di Maria’s wonderful cross after five minutes, the hosts appeared to be on track for a comfortable victory.

After Erik Palmer-Brown clumsily felled Kylian Mbappe, Neymar doubled the lead from the penalty spot 20 minutes later.

After half an hour, Troyes were given a way back into the game when Ugbo intercepted Nuno Mendes’ poor ball and fired into the bottom-left corner.
PSG came within a goal of regaining their two-goal lead when Lionel Messi side-footed against the post, only for Neymar to be called offside when hammering home the rebound.

The visitors punished another PSG blunder after the break when Presnel Kimpembe brought down Renaud Ripart, allowing Tardieu to score with an outrageous panenka.

Marquinhos sent a firm header wide and Messi crashed a long-range shot against the bar as the hosts chased a late winner.

But the disciplined visitors went on to claim a point at a frustrated Parc des Princes.

The result will do little to quieten the discontent around Pochettino’s team, with the Argentine under severe pressure in spite of wrapping up PSG’s 10th Ligue 1 title last month.
