A record 91,648 fans were at the Nou Camp on Friday to witness Barcelona Femini’s impressive 5-1 win over German side Wolfsburg in the first leg of their Women’s Champions League semi-final.

Just 10 minutes into the match, the home side were already 2-0 up courtesy of Aitana Bonmati and Caroline Graham Hansen’s goals.

Jenni Hermoso and captain Alexia Putellas added further goals to extend the Spanish Champions lead as the side raced to a 4-0 lead before halftime.

After the restart, Wolfsburg’s Jill Roord pulled one back, before Putellas scored from the spot to make it 5-1.

Two-time champions Wolfsburg were completely outplayed by Barcelona for the most part of the encounter.

On the evening, the home team broke their own record of number of spectators for a women’s match. The previous record was when they played in front of 91,553 for their quarter-final victory against El Clasico rivals Real Madrid last month.

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala, who just returned from injury, could only start from the bench and after coming on in the second half, was denied from close range.

Wolfsburg faces a huge task to turn things around in the return leg in Germany.

Seven-time champions Lyon will face French arch rivals Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, 24 April in the other semi-final.
