Enyimba Int’l Football Club proved too hot to handle for Kano Pillars at the Aba Township Stadium as the home team walloped their visitors 4-0 on Thursday evening. reports.

Victor Mbaoma scored twice before Emeka Obioma added another in the 74th minute. Godwin Emmanuel then completed the rout with the strike of his own in injury time.

This is the first time the Aba side has won a league game by four or more goals since August 2017.

The defeat is also Pillars’ worst defeat in the NPFL since losing 4-0 to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan in August 2016.

Heartland boosted their survival hopes by beating Plateau United 1-0 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium.

At the Ondo State Sports Complex, Sunshine Stars ended Rivers United’s 12-match unbeaten run by beating the visitors 1-0.

The only goal of the math was scored by Ugochukwu Leonard just four minutes into the encounter.

Despite the defeat, the Port Harcourt-based side maintained their four-point lead at the top of the league table, with Plateau United in second place.

It was not a good outing for the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Football Club (MFMFC) who suffered a 2-0 loss to Wikki Tourists in Lagos.

Abubakar Aliyu opened scoring two minutes into the game before Salomon Chigozie’s goal in the 87th minute condemned MFM Football Club to yet another defeat.

Meanwhile, Akwa United were the biggest winners on the matchday after destroying Nasarawa United 6-1 in Uyo.

The reigning league champions led by a massive 4-0 scoreline at halftime courtesy of goals from Friday Ubong, Adam Yakubu and Wisdom Fernando, who got a brace.
