Mexico To Host 2022 Blind Football World GP

The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Football Committee has confirmed Mexico as the host of the 2022 IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix.

It was also announced that the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from July 29 to August 8, will hold in the City of Puebla.

In this year’s event, eight teams are expected to battle it out at the tournament.

While making the announcement, the IBSA Football Committee stated that blind football is developing at an “amazing speed” in North America.

Japan had hosted the previous three editions of the IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix.

South American outfit, Argentina are the reigning champions having won the Blind Football World Grand Prix title in Shinagawa in Japan last year.

Another South American country, Brazil are the defending Paralympic champions while Argentina and Morocco won silver and bronze, respectively, at Tokyo 2020.

However, it is important to note that any country willing to participate in this year’s event have until 15th May to apply for the competition.

Also, each participant in the tournament will have to pay €350 (£290/$380) throughout the entirety of the competition.
