Manchester United has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not play against Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday.
This was revealed in a statement on Manchester United’s website on Tuesday, only 24 hours after Ronaldo confirmed the loss of his newborn son.
“It is with the deepest regret that we have to report that our newborn son has died away,” the 37-year-old striker announced on social media. It is the most agonizing anguish that any parent can experience. Only our baby girl’s arrival has given us the strength to survive this time with some optimism and happiness.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
Reacting, United wrote, “Everybody at Manchester United and indeed the football world is sending love to Cristiano Ronaldo and his family after the club legend made a heart-breaking announcement on Monday evening.
