Rivers Angels Crash Out Of CAF Women’s Champions League

Nigeria’s representatives at the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League, Rivers Angels crashed out of the competition despite earning a 4-0 win over Vihiga Queens.

Rivers Angels lost their first two matches of the competition, 3-0 loss to ASFAR before going down 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the second match.

The first half ended 0-0 but the Jewel of Rivers ran riot in the second half.

Vivian Ikechukwu opened the scoring from the spot after Damilola Koku was fouled in the box.

Koku was fouled again in the box before Vivian Ikechukwu scored the second goal from the spot to give Rivers Angels a 2-0 win 10 minutes later.

Damilola Koku capped an impressive performance with the third goal.

Monday Gift put the icing on the cake with the fourth goal against the Kenyan champions.

Damilola Koku was named the player of the match following her impressive performance.

The semifinals of the competition will see Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa battle it out with Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea, while Hasaacas Ladies of Ghana will slug it out with ASFAR of Morocco for a place in the final of the first-ever CAF Women’s Champions League.
