Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been named Premier League player of the month for September, Sportivation.com.ng reports.

The former Juventus star fought off stiff competition from Manchester City’s Joan Cancelo, Chelsea’s Anthony Rudiger, Allan Saint-Maximin of Newcastle, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr to the award.

Ronaldo has been impressive since returning to Manchester United from Juventus in the summer.

He scored three Premier League goals in September.

Ronaldo has scored five goals in all competitions for Manchester United this season.

He has now won the Premier League player of the month award five times.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been rewarded for his team’s upturn in form in the month of September by winning the coach of the month.

The Gunners won three matches in September including a 3-1 win over North London rivals, Tottenham and wins over Burnley and Norwich.

Arteta has dedicated the award to everyone connected to the club.

“I think [this award] represents the way everyone has been together, has been working and has been positive in difficult moments and continued to do their work with the right mentality, the right ambition and with the right work and direction,” Mikel told Arsenal’s website.

“So it’s for them. I get [the award] but it’s for all the people behind it.”

Arsenal welcome Crystal Palace to the Emirates Stadium when the Premier League resumes on October 16.
