Ogun Athletes Appeal For Close Camping Ahead Of National Youth Games In Ilorin

Exactly five days to the commencement of the 6th National Youth Games (NYC) at University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Ogun State athletes have appealed to the state government for close camping exercise ahead of the games.

The youth games which commenced on Sunday, October 10th – 20th, 2021 is expected to feature all the thirty six states and Federal Capital Territory for the eleven days event.

While speaking to the press on Tuesday at the Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta, the athletes called on the Ministry of Youth and Sports to put them camp them for the games.

They made references to other states such as Lagos, Osun, Delta, Anambra and many others to have put their athletes in camp since last week while other states joined on Sunday.

The athletes who promised to deliver medals revealed that embarking on close camping exercise would help them to perfect their strategies and allow for more concentration ahead of the games.

They added that the state sports council under the directorate of Princess Folakemi Iyabode Rotimi were doing their best to keep them in shape, but wanted the ministry to show their commitment to the athletes.

It could be recalled that the state athletes would compete in not less than twenty seven various sports events. Among them are gymnastics, boxing, wrestling, judo, cycling, athletics, basketball and many others.
