Iheanacho Shines As Nigeria Beat Liberia In Lagos

Kelechi Iheanacho scored a brace to lead Nigeria to a 2-0 win over Liberia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Sportivation.com.ng reports.
The Leicester City forward opened the scoring in the 22nd minute and the 44th minutes to give the Super Eagles a vital matchday 1 victory.
Osimhen came close to scoring just before halftime but his effort failed to hit the target.
The Liberians gave a good account of themselves in the game but the Super Eagles’ superiority was evident.
There was little action in the second half even after Gernot Rohr replaced the duo of Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon with Paul Onuachu and Samuel Kalu.
Ahmed Musa, who made his 99th appearance for the team replaced Kelechi Iheanacho.

Meanwhile, Iheanacho was named the man of the match with a prize money of 1million naira sponsored by 33 export lager beer, while Alex Iwobi was named the most valuable player of the match with a cash gift of one million naira courtesy of GAC Motors.

Nigeria will face Cape Verde in Mindelo on Tuesday.
Cape Verde and Central African Republic played out a 1-1 draw in the other Group C match.
