Iheanacho Shines As Nigeria Beat Liberia In Lagos

Kelechi Iheanacho scored a brace to lead Nigeria to a 2-0 win over Liberia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, reports.

The Leicester City forward opened the scoring in the 22nd  minute and the 44th minutes to give the Super Eagles a vital matchday 1 victory.

Osimhen came close to scoring just before halftime but his effort failed to hit the target.

The Liberians gave a good account of themselves in the game but the Super Eagles’ superiority was evident.

There was little action in the second half even after Gernot Rohr replaced the duo of Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon with Paul Onuachu and Samuel Kalu.

Ahmed Musa, who made his 99th appearance for the team replaced Kelechi Iheanacho.
