Onuachu Opens Up On Transfer Rumours

Nigeria international Paul Onuachu has reiterated his commitment to his Belgian club KRC Genk, according to African Football.

This comes after the towering centre forward was omitted from Genk’s matchday squad ahead of the Belgian Pro League clash with KV Oostende last week.

Onuachu was a noticeable absentee from the Genk team which suffered a 4-3 defeat to Oostende in their opening match of the new season.

Genk head coach John van den Brom felt that Onuacho was not ready to face Oostende, hence he was omitted from the matchday squad.

However, the 27-year-old returned to action for Genk against Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League game on Tuesday.

Onuachu, who netted Genk’s consolation goal in their 2-1 loss to Donetsk, assured that he’s committed to Genk amid speculation linking him with a move to the English Premier League.

“I just played a game. That shows that I am still 100 percent at Genk. I try to have an impact on the team and just stay here for the time being,” Onuachu told Voetbalnieuws.

Onuachu, who is the reigning Belgian Pro League Player of the Season, has been constantly linked with English Premier League clubs West Ham United, Arsenal FC, Watford, and French giants Lyon.

The current Belgian Pro League Golden Boot holder’s suitors have reportedly been put off by his €30million asking price.

His contract with Genk will expire at the end of June 2024.
