Bayelsa United continued their impressive home record with a 5-1 thumping of visitors Goddosky Fc of Nnewi in a match day twenty two of group B2 encounter in the southern conference of the Nigeria National League NNL played at the Samson Siasia Stadium Yenagoa.

The game which was moved from Sunday to midweek due to the Aiteo Cup final witnessed five different goal scorers on the score sheet with Tarabina Biweribo registering his first goal for the Yenagoa based side.

Stephen Wisdom gave the hosts the lead on 9 minutes after missing a sitter that could have been the fastest goal of the season, 50 seconds into the tie.

Experienced midfielder Benard Okorowanta doubled the lead for Bayelsa United when he curled the ball past Goddosky Fc Obi Ugochukwu on 26 minutes.

Making a return in the absence of injured Robert Mizo, Emo James compounded the woes of Goddosky Fc in a beautiful build up from Victory Beniangba and Philip Bob to condemn the visitors hope of getting any point in Yenagoa.

However, Charles Nwafor almost reduced the deficit for Goddosky Fc but fired blank.

In what could be described as the highlight of the game, Victory Beniangba dribbled Goddosky FC defenders and left them on the floor but while trying to dink it over the defence, the defender used his hands to put it over the bar as Endurance Ebedibiri stepped forward take the spot kick to complete his birthday celebration.

After an unimpressive first half, Goddosky FC returned in the second half with some promises despite the numerical disadvantage as they managed to pull one back from a controversial spot kick on 75 minutes.

Substitute Tarabina Biweribo five minutes after introduction registered his goal for Bayelsa United on 82 minutes to seal the victory for Bayelsa United.

Bayelsa United will next travel to Uyo face FC One Rocket of Akwa Ibom at the Nest of champions training pitch.

Head of coach Goddosky FC Ismalia Ibrahim in a post match interview attributed the defeat to the rain before the game but promised a better outing in the season.

With five games left to complete to the season, coach Diepreye Teibowei said Bayelsa United would leave nothing to chance in their quest to return to the elite division, pointing out that the reinforcement of the mid season has galvanized the team.

He noted he was pleased with the performance of lads having scored six against Holy Arrows in the penultimate fixture .
