Manchester City Beat PSG To Book Champions League Final Place

Published

Manchester City recorded a 2-0 victory over PSG at the Etihad Stadium to qualify for their first-ever Uefa Champions League final.

The first leg ended 2-1 in favour of the Citizens and PSG suffered a major blow as Kylian Mbappe failed to recover from injury and subsequently missed out of the game.

Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring with an early shower eleven minutes into the contest with a superb finish which rattled the visitors.

PSG tried to find their way back into the game in the first half but Manchester City defended doggedly to deny them the chance as the first half ended 1-0.

Mahrez ended the contest with another goal just after the hour-mark to ensure Manchester City’s place in the Uefa Champions League final.

Angel Di Maria was sent off for a stamp on Fernandinho following a touch line tussle.

Mahrez hailed his teammates for giving their all to qualify for the final.

“It was a very good game. We didn’t start well again – we didn’t have a good first half but we got the goal and we were more comfortable.

“We played well second half and we could have scored more. They lost their nerve and started to kick us and after the red card it was more comfortable”.

“We have another game on Saturday we need to be win to be league champions and then we’ll concentrate on the Champions League final.”

Manchester City will play the winner between Chelsea and Manchester City in the Uefa Champions League final in Istanbul on May 29.
