“The tournament is going to consist of five different teams from different classes”, the Sports director of NIJ Martins Chuku told Sportivation.com.ng in an exclusive interview.
Chuku continued by saying: “The aim of the tournament is to try to revive the spirit of sports in the institution. There will be cash prizes for first and second position. Also, medals will be given to them.”
Commenting on what other students should be looking forward to, professionalism and officiating as regards the tournament, Chuku said we should be looking at a well-structured and disciplined tournament.
“Rules will be followed and there will be enough fun to entertain the other students. The level of officiating is going to be topnotch because the officials are all going to be professionals from outside the school in order to achieve a free and fair tournament.”
He added: “Due to the unexpected pandemic that took the world unaware, it affected the hosting of the tournament last year.”
The opening fixture of the championship will see the Part-time team play against the ND 2 team.
The competition is said to have been a regular activity in the school calendar since the existence of the students’ week.
