Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa has joined NPFL side, Kano Pillars until the end of the season.
Musa has been a free agent since leaving Al Nassr last year.
The former CSKA Moscow star has returned to his boyhood club for a second stint after failing to seal a move to West Brom in the January transfer window.
Kano Pillars confirmed his signing on their website.
“Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has sensationally returned to Kano Pillars FC for the remainder of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season (NPFL),” a statement from the Kano Pillars website read.
“Musa previously played for the Pride of Kano in 2009 where he ended the season as the top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League with 18 goals before moving to VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands.”
Ahmed Musa will be unveiled by Kano State Governor Abdulahi Umar Ganduje before the start of the league second stanza.
Musa started his professional career at Kano Pillars before joining VVV Venlo in 2010 after winning the NPFL top scorer award in the same year.
He has scored 15 goals in 96 appearances for the Super Eagles after making his debut in 2010.
Offside Calls Could Be Automated in 2022 World Cup – Wenger
By Taiwo Ibrahim
Former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has revealed that there could be an improvement on the offside call at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with the introduction of automated offside technology Sportivation.com.ng can report.
Wenger is currently the chief of global football development for FIFA.
The offside rule has been causing issues lately with VAR not helping the situation, we could be having another technological interruption in football next year according to Arsene Wenger.
Wenger has told FIFA’s Living Football show: “The automated offside I think will be ready for 2022. Automated means it goes directly from the signal to the linesman and the linesman has on his watch a red light that tells him offside or not offside.
“At the moment we have situations where the players are on lines to see if they are offside or not. On average, the time we have to wait is around 70 seconds, sometimes one minute 20 seconds, sometimes a little bit longer when the situation is very difficult to appreciate.
“It is so important because we see many celebrations are cancelled after that for marginal situations and that’s why I believe it is a very important step.
“The semi-automated goes first to the VAR, who signals it to the linesman. I’m pushing very hard to have the automated offsides, which means straight away the signal goes to the linesman.”
Wenger added: “FIFA and IFAB have always maintained that the final decision will remain with the referee, with technology being introduced to provide the officials with the best support available.”
The semi-auto system was tested by FIFA at the 2019 World Club Cup in Qatar
