Former FIFA Executive Committee Member, Dr. Amos Adamu on Monday in Benin unveiled NWFL Championship side Naija Ratels customised match balls after the Final of the Football event of the ongoing National Sports Festival.
The highly rated Sports administrator was joined by other top personals to give out the customised match balls to all 8 teams that participated at the Football event of the National Sports Festival.
Amos Adamu who was one time Director General of the National Sports Commission was thrilled that a Nigerian Clubside can think of having their own customised match balls, stressing that it is the right step to move the club to greater heights.
Receiving the match balls on behalf of Team Edo, Captain of the side and Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Phillip Shuabu thanked the management of the team for reaching out to all the teams that participated at the Football Event of the National Sports Festival, saying other clubs in Nigeria should emulate the NWFL Championship side, by going into selling of merchandise that will bring in profits.
Barrister Paul Edeh, President of Naija Ratels FC who was represented by Coach Bankole Oloowokere said it was a pleasure to give out the match balls to the football participating teams, stating that football is the sports played most consistently in the world.
“Football is loved by all, that’s one of the reasons we decided to give our customised match balls to all Football participating teams in the National Sports Festival.
“The Naija Ratels customised ball is strong, iconic and reflects the values of the Clubside as we are planning of building a big fan base across all quarters.
Naija Ratels is an NWFL Championship side, based in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and is owned by Legal Luminary, Barrister Paul Edeh.
Minister Dissolves Boards of 31 Sports Federations
In keeping with the Olympic Charter which stipulates a 4-year tenure for all Sports Federations Boards following the expiration of the tenure of the National Olympic Sports Federations, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr Sunday Dare has dissolved l the boards and constituted Caretaker Committees, Sportivation.com.ng reports.
The Minister, who was represented by the Director of Federation, Elites Athletes Department Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development Dr.
Simon Ebhojaiye stated, “Within the last 4 years, a few of the National Sports Federations Boards performed remarkably well, Having run a full Olympic cycle, the Boards of the NSFs inaugurated on 21 June 2017 are hereby dissolved to pave way for fresh elections.”
In order to ensure continuity in the administration of the Federations, Caretaker Committees are hereby put in place to manage the affairs of the Federations until elections are conducted and the new Boards inaugurated”
Ebhojaiye further said “Mindful of the Olympic Games in July 2021, the Caretaker Committees will work assiduously towards enhancing team Nigeria participation at the Games.
The Ministry in partnership with the NOC will release in due course, the time-table for the elections into National Sports Federation Boards”
He encouraged all Nigerians with passion and interest in Sports to contribute selflessly to the development of Sports in Nigeria by indicating interest in the Membership of the various National Sports Federations.

The Caretaker Committees for the 31 National Sports Federations will run the affairs of the Federations until the inauguration of the new Boards.
The Aquatic Federation of Nigeria Caretaker committee is headed by Babatunde Fatai William’s, Olumide George Athletic Federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Eng. Musa Kida, Basketball Federation of Nigeria, Rtd General Joseph Ayeni, Nigeria Boxing Federation, DIG Sani Sani Mohammed Nigeria Chess Federation, Professor Yahaya Ukwanya Nigeria Cricket Federation, G Masari Cycling Federation of Nigeria, Abubakar Gaya Darts Federation of Nigeria, Alhaji U Nahuche Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation, Abubakar Dangaladima Fives Federation of Nigeria, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlolola Nigeria Golf Federation, Prince Kelvin Erhurnwunse, Gymnastic Federation of Nigeria.

NSF 2020: Sports Minister Congratulates Team Oyo
The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development Chief Sunday Dare has showered praises on team Oyo for their outstanding performance at the just concluded National Sports Festival in Benin where they finished in the 6th position.
“Congratulations to Team Oyo, they did well, finishing in the top ten at the just concluded National sports festival is a huge feat. With this performance,Team Oyo can do better in the next edition with early preparations and the right support”, the Minister affirmed.
Team Oyo not only finished in the 6th position in the overall medals table, but posted some outstanding performance in some events.Team Oyo had 29 Gold, 30 Silvers and 42 bronze totalling 101 medals amassed from Weightlifting, Boxing, Chess, Table tennis, Gold, wrestling, para table tennis among others.
The high point of the team’s performance was Taiwo Osijo feat of scooping 1 Gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze in weightlifting and Onokpite Kennedy gold medal win in chess.
Sports Minister Inspects Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja
In line with his commitment to the speedy completion of the on-going renovation of Sports infrastructures in the country.
The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development Chief Sunday Dare on Friday inspected the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja to assess the level of work, with a charge to the contractor to complete the rehabilitation on schedule.
Speaking after an inspection tour of the facilities, Chief Dare said “I am satisfied with the progress so far, the delivery date is now June”.
“There are technologies attached to football pitches like this, when you see standard pitches, it is not just about the sand and grasses, but there are underbellies of technologies like the water sprinklers among others”.
“We are trying to get things right so that with proper maintenance, we won’t be drawn back to it for another 10 years.”
He re- assured that plans towards the Tokyo 2020 has commenced.
“Olympics we’re on track “We are done with the National Sports Festival, now as a Country and a Ministry, our eyes are on the Olympics for which we have started a 100 days Countdown”.
In another 7-10 days the camps will be opened in Lagos, Port Harcourt, probably Delta and Florida where we have most of our relay team athletes.
From there other members of the team will be joining them and possibly we will have another camp in Europe.
The preparation for the Olympics never stopped even with the effect of covid-19 and preparations for the just concluded National Sports Festival.
“We will try to maintain a 60-70 days camping by doubling the 25-30 days camping we used to have in the past”, the Minister affirmed
