Inter Milan coach, Antonio Conte has revealed he is ready to abandon aesthetics in other to lead the club to the Serie A league title.

The Nerazzurri defeated Sassuolo 2-1 on Wednesday to go 11 points clear on top of the log as they aim for their first league title since 2010.

Inter’s style shocked many as they defended deep and allowed the visitors the ball at San Siro, while having just 30 per cent possession, their lowest since Opta started recording data in 2004.

Conte is not bothered about their style of play as long as they win and inch closer to the title.

“We played well against Real Madrid in the Champions League and had some great games, but the final result was that we went out of the competition while playing well, which did not interest anyone,” he told Sky Italia.

“Today we did not disregard aesthetics, but we adapted to the situation because our objective is so important that aesthetics come second.”

Inter Milan are now 12 points ahead of Juventus, who have won the league for nine consecutive years.

“To think that in two years we have made up so many points on the dominant force of the league for the last nine years, I could not have imagined it in my wildest dreams,” he said.

“It does not mean we are better than Juve, who have a very strong team. We rolled up our sleeves and started to work in an important way towards an objective, to be credible.

“The league was always dominated by one team and we have managed to change that. That has motivated us a lot, it was a boost for everyone, especially for the many guys who are fighting for this goal for the first time.

“Last year we played in a Europa League final, now we are aiming to achieve the maximum objective.”

Inter Milan will have a chance to extend their lead on Sunday when they host Cagliari at the San Siro Stadium.
